Cinque buoni motivi per amare Pokémon Go

Li potete trovare in ufficio, nei giardini, nei parchi o persino nel vostro letto.
Stiamo parlando dei Pokémon?
Più o meno! Come sempre successo, all’aumentare della popolarità ed i sostenitori di alcuni argomenti “ludici”, aumentano di pari passo i detrattori della stessa.

Chi vi scrive ha 25 anni, nato e cresciuto a Roma e che definire NERD sarebbe decisamente eccessivo, anzi.
Le mie esperienze sui videogame si limitano a sporadiche partite a FIFA con gli amici e niente più. Tuttavia, come tutti gli adulti ho avuto un’infanzia e nella mia c’erano (anche) loro: i Pokémon.

Tra colpi di stato falliti e attentati terroristici, c’è chi sostiene che ci siano argomenti molto più seri da considerare ed al quale dedicare tempo.
Vero, giustissimo e anzi: sacrosanto (se non avete sentito parlare di questi argomenti chiudete questo link e correte ad informarvi)!
Ma siamo davvero così sicuri che l’utilizzo in piena estate di un’app ludica possa essere la panacea del fallimento del genere umano?
Prima di tutto si peccherebbe di presunzione, non sarà certo grazie a qualche minuto passato a giocare sul proprio smartphone che diminuirà improvvisamente l’interesse per la politica, l’economia internazionale e i fatti di cronaca: a chi non importava nulla prima, non importerà nulla nemmeno dopo l’avvento di Pokémon Go, viceversa chiunque dotato di intelligenza nella norma, saprà equilibrare il tempo speso su un’applicazione ed il resto degli argomenti mondiali degni di nota (a meno che non vogliate lasciare i vostri cari ed avventurarvi per il mondo alla ricerca di Charizard).

Fatte le doverose premesse, perché ho scelto di giocare a Pokémon Go?

1) Realtà aumentata:
Gli sviluppatori hanno saputo aspettare, covare l’idea e finalmente partorirla. I tempi per creare un’app del genere sono sicuramente perfetti, la tecnologia utilizzata (realtà aumentata, sfruttamento dei dati geografici e connessione internet) è completamente digerita dagli utenti e non richiede un particolare sforzo da parte degli users per poterla comprendere e giocare.

2) Non c’è più nessuno a dirci di spegnere il GameBoy.
Il gioco colpisce soprattutto la fascia d’età abbastanza “vecchia” da aver giocato ai Pokémon sulle vecchie console portatili nell’età compresa tra gli 8 ed i 14 anni, quando i compiti per le vacanze incombevano e le nostre mamme ci sorvegliavano togliendoci, quando necessario, il GameBoy. Grazie Mamma, ma ora sarebbe abbastanza difficile uscire di casa senza smartphone e Nintendo questo lo sa e, sfruttando la same generation hypotesis (stessa generazione di giocatori, ma cresciuti), ha creato un applicativo killer per un dispositivo indispensabile nel 2016, dandoci la possibilità di giocare ad un blockbuster dei vidogames, in qualsiasi momento della giornata e senza usare altri device.
Ma non solo, così facendo sono riusciti a catturare altri target già in possesso di uno smartphone che, per ragioni anagrafiche ma non solo, non erano mai entrate in contatto con Pikatchu e co.

3) Non mi costringe davanti uno schermo, anzi.
Voglio esagerare, ma con la prova costume dietro l’angolo avere una scusa in più per fare una passeggiata alla ricerca di Pokémon sicuramente male non farà.
Anche per questo mi piace questa app: non ci costringe sul divano con un joystick ma anzi, mi porta a passeggio per i luoghi più “social” del mio quartiere alla ricerca di sfere Poké o palestre dove sconfiggere altri Pokémon. Integrare la realtà locale con il gioco è stata un’idea tanto semplice quanto geniale: siamo finalmente dentro al gioco, non più spettatori.

4) Nuove frontiere per la pubblicità.
Pokémon e Nintendo sono due lovemark molto forti e presenti nella mente dei consumatori, vederle inventare nuove (vecchie) maniere per allietare i videogocatori da ogni parte del mondo ci può solo che rendere felici.  Inoltre in questo modo, si crea un forte precedente per le pubblicità offline ed online.
Vi sarà sicuramente capitato di vedere su Facebook (o dal vivo) qualche bar o ristorante invitare “i cacciatori” ad entrare nel proprio locale per poter sfruttare il luogo geografico in questione ai fini del gioco.
Come è evidente, è un modo totalmente innovativo per collegare l’ambiente online al contesto offline e chiunque si appassionato di pubblicità e marketing non può che guardare, se non con piacere almeno con simpatia, questo fenomeno. Ma non solo: nei giorni scorsi a Roma, la Algida ha organizzato un “raduno” per allenatori di Pokèmon offrendo wifi libero e gratuito in un famoso parco di Roma e attivando diverse esche ha scatenato una vera e propria caccia.
Spiegatemi cosa c’è di male nel vedere ragazze e ragazzi divertirsi, camminare per chilometri in una (non troppo) soleggiata domenica di luglio e magari conoscere nuove persone con gli stessi interessi.

5) Mi diverto.
Non lo nascondo: mi diverto molto a (illudermi di) tornare bambino per un attimo e gettarmi alla caccia dei Pokémon e mi stupisco quando senza leggerne il nome, mi ricordo perfettamente caratteristiche, evoluzioni e “mosse speciali”. Mi diverto a vedere come i creatori abbiano realizzato un sofisticato meccanismo di premi e ricompense che, sfruttando al meglio le dinamiche del gaming, ha reso di questa app una vera pietra miliare delle app e mi diverto a condividere le foto dei miei amici insieme ai Pokémon più strani, nei luoghi più insoliti.
Potrei star qui ad elencarvi i motivi economici e finanziari che ci hanno colpito (le azioni della Nintendo sono schizzate di valore con un +52% in pochi giorni) o a commentare quei ragazzi che si offrono come pokemon sitter al costo di 15 euro per un’ora di “caccia” al posto tuo o star qui a discutere le implicazioni per la “sicurezza” dei giocatori ma non posso davvero: I gotta catch ‘em all…
