Internet: trent’anni e non sentirli

Oggi, 30 aprile 2016, Internet celebra i suoi primi 30 anni in Italia!

Ci uniamo al coro di auguri di lunga vita e, da buoni trentenni, ci interroghiamo su come stia vivendo il fatto di aver superato così abbondantemente la maggior età…

Comunque sia, diciamolo, questi anni li porta davvero divinamente, tanto che dal giorno della nascita non ha smesso mai, nemmeno per un secondo, di suscitare interesse e ammirazione..

Scherzi a parte, che cosa accadde precisamente 30 anni fa?

Dopo un lungo percorso di studi e ricerche, finalmente venne scambiato il primo messaggio tra il Centro Universitario per il Calcolo Elettronico di Pisa e la stazione di Roaring Creek, in Pennsylvania, che di fatto ha sancito l’ingresso dell’Italia in Rete.

Dai tempi in cui si cercavano nelle riviste specializzate, i mitici CD-ROM per installare sul proprio computer i primi driver e browser per navigare su internet e dal quel suono del modem 56K, che i millenials potranno conoscere solo riascoltandolo su YouTube, ne è passata di acqua sotto i ponti, anzi di banda dentro i cavi…

Internet ero nato come strumento per scambiare rapidamente grandi quantità di testo tra laboratori scientifici dislocati nelle varie parti del globo e, invece, si stava apprestando a diventare un enorme contenitore di informazioni in cui i più “smanettoni”, alla fine anni ’90, avrebbero cominciato ad inserire le prime pagine web sui temi più disparati.

Ma come sempre accade nella fase iniziale di grandi invenzioni, Internet presentava grandi limiti: dall’estrema semplicità dei contenuti all’infinita lentezza nel compiere qualsiasi azione.

Da allora come detto, di cose ne sono cambiate, è arrivato l’internet 2.0 e ha trasformato la Rete da contenitore a luogo virtuale in cui vivere. Eh sì, perché già dall’arrivo del famoso SecondLife fino ai primi social network, la Rete non era più semplicemente un luogo dove informarsi, bensì un luogo dove poter informare e conversare con gli altri utenti, inserendo in prima persona dei dettagli  della propria vita, condividendo con altri passioni, interessi e hobby.

E’ il tempo dei forum, delle community e delle chat private su MSN o dei primi giochi di ruolo online. Cercare di fare un paragone con quelli che erano i vecchi tempi oltre ad essere un esercizio da nostalgici incalliti, è pressoché impossibile.

Insomma, ragionamenti sociologici a parte, non rimane che stare a guardare attivamente ai  social network, gli smartphone e tutto ciò che ci sta conducendo all’Internet of Things, ovvero quel momento dove saranno gli oggetti che utilizziamo a comunicare in maniera intelligente tra loro, dando a noi utenti infiniti vantaggi.

Ciò che ci aspetta nessuno lo può sapere, ma ciò che non dobbiamo mai dimenticare è che per quanti progressi la Rete ed i computer faranno, questi ultimi saranno sempre uno strumento per collegare tra loro le persone e non le macchine.
